THE SENTIENT LAW MOVES FORWARD IN THE ARGENTINE CONGRESS!

Last 5th of December, the Sentient Bill introduced by PRO representative María Sotolano and backed by lawmakers from nearly every political bloc, continues gaining momentum: Gabriela Estévez (UP), Margarita Stolbizer (Encuentro Federal), Yamila Ruíz and Alberto Arrúa (Innovación Federal), María de los Ángeles Moreno, and Nancy Picón Martínez (Producción y Trabajo). This significant milestone was crowned with brilliant talks by Former National Educational Minister and Senator Esteban Bullrich, Sentient Law Co-Authors Liz Solari and Leonardo Barnabá, Lawyer Graciela Fayt, Judges Rolero Santurián and Rocío López Di Muro, and environmentalist Máximo Mazzocco, who highlighted why it is urgent and necessary to pass the Sentient Law as soon as possible. We were also joined by NGOs, animal and environmental activists, and our volunteers from across the country. The power and responsibility to debate, vote on, and pass the law to recognize animals as “non-human animals subject to law” and remove them for good from the category of OBJECTS in the Argentine Civil and Commercial Code is now in the hands of our lawmakers.
